Editing experience
After leaving college I worked mainly in news as a studio cameraman and editor, editing front panel machine to machine and in three machine suites with Sony and Ampex edit controllers.
I now edit on Final Cut Pro (FCP 7 and FCP X) and have a detailed working knowledge of Soundtrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Motion, and Photoshop.
I have a wealth of experience editing to tight deadlines, taking editorial briefs and working alone as well as authoring DVD's and exporting for web streaming.
My previous experience with tape to tape technology is still useful when it comes to setting up edit suites and ensuring my work adheres to the highest technical standards.
Most of my edit work is now based from file based acquisition, including XDcam EX, XDcam HD and P2. I have also made extensive use of FCP's multi camera editing facilities for editing interviews, concerts and OB's.

A few of the recent highlights:
"Dan McKenzie and Friends: A History of the Bullard Lab's"
Initially planned to be a one hour talking head similar to the neuroscience interviews for The Wellcome Trust, it has turned into a fully fledged one hour broadcast documentary with motion graphics and archive.
Shot by me on XDcam HD and edited on Final Cut.

"Today's Neuroscience, Tomorrow's History"
A series of 12 x 1hr interviews with some of the UK's leading neuroscientists, chemists and physicists, produced by University College London with a grant from the Wellcome Trust.
Each interview lasted around 4 hours, was shot on DVcam and edited on Final Cut Pro with delivery on DVD, audio podcasts and youtube videos. (watch an example here)

"Wandsworth Goes Gospel"
In 2005 & 2006, Wandsworth Council arranged for over 500 children to learn to sing gospel. They then went on to perform a concert at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall. In both cases we used 4 cameras to shoot the performance which I then edited for DVD release.
Examples of my editing work include my showreel and "Psycho Aliens".
